Crème de la Cookie

Sugar-Wafers

Sugar Wafers drive me crazy. I don't know why. They are not especially delicious. They're generally stale-tasting cookies filled with crème (not cream) and packed with enough sugar that it is the #1 item on the box's list of ingredients. But if ever I eat a single one, I will quickly eat all I can find. The Nutrition Facts label says a box contains nine servings. Ridiculous! It contains three stacks, of which a minimum of one is a light snack. Never has a boxful in the cupboard lasted overnight. And not to get gross, but I don't just eat these cookies one at a time. I eat them by threes and sixes. There is no other food about which I feel like such an addict, but I suspect I am not alone. Is it just happenstance that Sugar Wafers never, ever go on sale? Does Nabisco know that we who are in their thrall will pay anything when we crave them? The one time my local grocery store ran out, the manager told me that he had been approached by other waferheads who pleaded desperately for him to get them back on the self ASAP.

What have you done to Biscos Sugar Wafers?  i recently purchase a box and have thrown them away as they tasted terrible.  i open the box when my son and  husband were present and they both agreed that the taste was not good.  I will not buy them again even though they were one of my favorite "store" cookies
