Begun in 1938, the Johnson County Peach Festival is the oldest outdoor festival in Arkansas.  Festivities go on for six days, and include a Banana (?) Split Contest at 4PM Thursday, the Peach Eating Contest at 1PM Friday, a peach cobbler and jam/jelly contest at 2PM Friday, a chance to eat that peach cobbler at 3PM Friday, and a peach pit-spitting contest 1130AM Saturday.

There'll be barbershop quartet, fiddling, and gospel music, dancing, horseshoes and fishing, crafts and concessions, a greased pig chase, a frog jump, and a terrapin derby, and parades. And what would an Arkansas peach festival be without Queen Elberta, Miss Arkansas Valley, and Miss Teen Arkansas Valley!  For more info see the festival website.
