I will admit to a certain degree of home-state chauvinism when I pontificate about Connecticut's magnificent cheeseburger endowment. With such leading lights as Harry's in Colchester, Shady Glen in Manchester, and Ted's in Meriden, not to mention New Haven's Louis Lunch, it is hard to deny that it isn't some kind of cheeseburger paradise. A visit to Clamp's on Route 7 at the northern edge of New Milford is further evidence. In my opinion, the grilled onions here are on a par with the best you'll find on burgers in El Reno, Oklahoma. Clamp's simply heaps them on rather than grills them in; their caramel-sweet presence is a cheeseburger's best friend. One of the outstanding things about this ultra-informal hamburger stand is that each hamburger actually is cooked to the customer's specifications.
