Doug’s Fish Fry, the Upstate New York mini-chain famous for fresh, sweet-fleshed, and enormous fish sandwiches, is spinning off some outlets and renaming them JD’s Fish n’ Grill.  The three JD’s will be located in DeWitt, Fairmount, and Clay, while the Skaneateles, Cortland, and state fair restaurants will remain Doug’s.  Doug says that JD’s will offer Doug’s fish menu, but will add non-fish dishes like burgers.  Oddly, though, there’s no mention of the JD’s restaurants on Doug’s website.  For more info, see this story on Syracuse’s WSYR website.

The above photo is from Roadfood.com’s review of Doug’s Fish Fry (the Cortland branch, which is remaining Doug’s).  Michael Stern says: “The fish is moist, sweet, and gentle-flavored, encased in a sandy crust with just the right amount of crunch.”
