Brooklyn Pizza.  The Sloppiest Burger in Malaysia.  This Is My Cheesesteak.  These are just some of the titles that are screening during the 2nd Annual NYC Food Film Festival, which started last Saturday and continues through Friday.  Each free program consists of five shorts, shown outdoors at Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City.  Special food is available to accompany each evening’s program: tonight they feature samosas, olive oil, and blueberries; tomorrow night, Southern Pit barbecued pork; Friday, a vegan dinner.

Of particular interest to Roadfoodheads will be Brooklyn Pizza, a six-minute film without dialogue, and Holy Smoke Over Birmingham, a film about the barbecue joints of the Alabama city.  Both will be shown tomorrow night (Thursday).  Friday’s program will include Pure And Simple, about Anthony Mangieri and his singular Una Pizza Napoletana (Roadfood.com review).  Other topics covered will include the olive oil harvest in Umbria, four minutes on the day in the life of a bar towel, and a look at artisinal cheesemakers in the American South.

Food starts at 7 p.m., screenings begin 830 p.m., and take place rain or shine (there is a big tent, just in case).
