Kathie Jenkins, restaurant critic for TwinCities.com, reports that Two Harbors stalwart Betty’s Pies has opened a branch in Mahtomedi, a northeast suburb of Minneapolis.  The menu is similar to the original Betty’s Pies, and Ms. Jenkins’ first reports on the pies are not favorable.

Pictured above is coconut custard pie from the Two Harbors Betty’s, from Michael Stern’s Roadfood.com review, which he says “reminded us of the thick, rich tortes one gets in Wisconsin cafes to the south of here.”

That is one of the tastiest looking pieces of pie I've ever seen.

Mpls suburb - ha! - once again a mpls snob - St Paul doesnt exist. Guess that means that Eden Prairie is a St Paul Suburb.

Bettys pies is located near the white bear lake and mahtomedi border, north east of St Paul.

Yes, PLEASE! Mahtomedi is a St. Paul suburb near White Bear Lake. Give us easteners some recognition.
