It’s prime blueberry season along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, and South Haven, Michigan is celebrating with their 45th National Blueberry Festival, starting Thursday, August 7th and continuing through Sunday the 10th. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to sample the local crop, at the Blueberry Pie Social Thursday evening, or at Blueberry Central Friday through Sunday, where you can buy fresh blueberries, blueberry pies, and blueberry plants. There’s a blueberry cookoff, demonstrations of cooking with blueberries by chefs, a kid’s blueberry pie eating contest, horticulturalists teaching about blueberries, and a blueberry pancake breakfast on Sunday. There’s also a traditional Great Lakes fish boil Friday night.
