A pizza at Patsy’s (pictured above) cost 60 cents in 1933, when Patsy’s first opened in New York City’s East Harlem neighborhood.  And that’s also what a pizza will cost tomorrow, August 19, as Patsy’s celebrates their 75th anniversary with music, political proclamations, and 1933 prices like a 12-ounce New York steak for 90 cents or a grilled salmon fillet for 90 cents.  The event runs from 11:00 am till 10:00 pm.

Michael Stern describes Patsy’s in his Roadfood.com review: “The place is a true destination restaurant, way uptown in a place that is not exactly ‘restaurant row.’ It's ancient, going back to 1933 when Pasquale Lancieri first opened for business; and it has the well-aged character of a neighborhood restaurant that hasn't changed even as the neighborhood around it has.”
