Skopelos on the Bay was opened in 1959 by Paul Silivos. In 1999 he sold the business to his son Gus. In 2005, Paul Silivos passed away, leaving the land and building to his daughters. Uh-oh! The daughters want to use the site to build condos; the son wants to continue to operate the restaurant. They are battling it out in court; Gus lost the first suit, and the ruling on his appeal is due soon. Unless the outcome favors him, Gus Silivos plans to shut Skopelos down at the end of August this year. Read more about the situation in Carlton Proctor’s story in the Pensacola News Journal.
In his Roadfood.com review of Skopelos, Michael Stern said that “we don’t know a better place in the Florida panhandle to splurge on scampi flambé and plates of impeccable baked grouper.”
