Len Maniace has written a story about the Pepe’s pizzeria that will be opening in Yonkers, NY, for the Hudson Valley’s Journal News. Word is, the building is under construction, and the planned opening date is November 2nd. The restaurant is being built on the site of Ricky’s Clam House, which closed in 2008. The owner of Ricky’s will be partners in the new Pepe’s. The local Yonkers pizza-makers are reacting with New York bravado. They think they’ll run Pepe’s out of town with their traditional New York-style pies; no way NYers will go for that New England interloper! We’ll see.
